The prenatal paternity test is a test done using intra-venous blood collected from the arm of the mother
and a saliva collected from the mouth of the alleged father. Where and by who you are collected is very flexible.
You can both be collected at the same time or appointment, or you can be collected separately. If collected separately,
we recommend to collect the saliva of the alleged father first, then you have 60 days to collect the blood of the mother.
Collecting the pregnant mother
For collecting the blood of the alleged mother, you have the following options:
- Book an appointment for one of our clinics. The list of clinics is available at the bottom of this page.
- Order a blood collection kit at home. You can then bring the kit to your family doctor for collection. Any
family doctor will be able to take blood from your arm.
- In most cities, we can arrange for a nurse to collect you at home.
Collecting the alleged father
For collecting the saliva from the mouth of the alleged father, you have the following options:
- Book an appointment for one of our clinics (listed below). The alleged father can be collected at the same time as
the mother, or on different days. However, if collected on different days, we recommend to collect the alleged father
first because the saliva swabs are valid for at least 60 days. Whereas the blood must be tested within the next few days.
- Swab the alleged father at home using a home collection kit. You can then bring the swabs to your appointment, or mail them
back to our laboratory directly.
- In most cities, we can arrange for a nurse to collect the alleged father at home.
